2023 UNC Tax Symposium

The 26th Annual UNC Tax Symposium sponsored by the KPMG Foundation will occur on April 28 & 29. This event which is sponsored by the KPMG Foundation and the James C. and Ethel M. Crone Fund in Tax Excellence will bring together tax scholars and practitioners from different areas who share a common interest in tax research.  CPA’s attending the event in person can earn up to 9.4 CPE credits. Five research papers will be presented and discussed covering various tax issues. A panel discussion will take place involving industry representatives on current issues in tax practice, policy, and research.



Participants will:

  • Gain awareness of the role of accounting and investment efficiency related to the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act.
  • Recognize the relationship between U.S. import tariffs and domestic corporate performance.
  • Learn about current issues in tax practice, policy, and research.
  • Consider the relationship between protectionist trade policy, firm performance, and taxes.
  • Gain awareness of tax evasion using American Depositary Receipts.
  • Recognize tax evasion and information production from evidence from the FATCA and offshore asset management.
