Tax Efficient Supply Chain Management Is Webinar Topic

Effective tax planning should factor into how multinational firms manage their global supply chain.
Leading tax and accounting professors from UNC Kenan-Flagler will discuss the rapidly changing landscape in tax-efficient supply chain management (TESCM) during a webinar on Sept. 30 at 4 p.m.

Douglas A. Shackelford, dean and the Meade H. Willis Distinguished Professor of Taxation, and Eva Labro, associate professor of accounting, will lead the webinar, “Tax-Efficient Supply Chain Management.”

Increasingly, multinationals are integrating global tax planning into the overall management of their supply chains – from the location and movement of activities, functions and employees,to the control and allocation of risks.

TESCM is designed to produce flexible tax planning based on operations and deliver long-term reductions in a firm’s effective tax rate and other taxes. Geographic configurations in a global supply chain must consider such factors as the potential gains and losses in production, logistics costs, time and cost benefits of co-location and implications for partner organizations and customers.
Shackelford is an expert in taxes and business strategy. His current research focuses on the effects of shareholder taxes on equity prices, the taxation of multinationals and the disclosure of corporate tax information.

Labro’s expertise is in management accounting and how it interfaces with operations and supply management.

The webinar is sponsored by the Global Business Center at UNC Kenan-Flagler. To register, visit http://tinyurl.com/o777zz7.
